FAQ

Using a plug & play interface it is possible to fit a hands free phone kit to your Mini without chopping or splicing into any of the cars wiring.

The interface plugs in behind the radio. It powers your kit, mutes the radio and routes the phone sound through the door speakers. On Wave & Boost models the radio displays 'mute' or 'phone' whilst a call is in progress (This feature does not work on HK models)

This is the interface for wave stereo 1 wave muTe kit.jpg (50794 bytes)

The boost & HK version is here 2 boost mute kit.jpg (153597 bytes)

The most popular kit is for nokia phones pictured here 3 mute & nokia.jpg (49300 bytes)

If fitting another make of phone kit we can either supply an adaptor or you can join the plug from your hands free kit to our bare wire kit - see below

Some newer nokias have a different power plug, an adaptor is included with our nokia interface

If fitting a Motorola with micro molex  this adaptor is available 6 motorola adapt.jpg (21908 bytes)

For the Ericsson HCB20 add this adaptor 7 sony adapt.jpg (20575 bytes)

For the Ericsson HCB30 we don't have an adaptor for the speaker plug, so you can chop the plug off the dissused Ericsson speaker as shown 9 hcb30 spkr plug.jpg (53820 bytes)

Or just order the bare wire kit and join the wires to your phone kit 8 bare ends.jpg (46685 bytes)

  4. Remove the small plugs from main radio plug. On wave models there will be 1 10 pin plug held in place by a blue plastic lock which should be removed wave small lock.jpg (50377 bytes) the plug then pulls out from behind10 pin out.jpg (117562 bytes). Boost models will have 1 or 2 12 pins plugs, these are clipped in from behind - remove.
  5. Insert small plug/s into new radio plug on interface new 10 pin & lock.jpg (127802 bytes)
  6. Connect old radio plug to socket on interface plug into car.jpg (125743 bytes)and lock.

  8. You will now be left with the wires which connect to your phone kit.
  9. Find a suitable location for your phone module. I hide it behind the dash end panel which just clips off. dash end.jpg (97618 bytes) If fitting a bluetooth kit use the drivers side, for a cradle type kit use the passenger side.
  10. Fit your aerial if required
  11. Fit the microphone; hcb30 mic clock.jpg (79231 bytes) hcb30 mike.jpg (79936 bytes) the blank or clock just pull out. the wire can then be routed down the pillar (the trim is clipped on and is pulled off starting from the top.
  12. Run the interface wires across the top of the glovebox or behind drivers dash panel (cable tie away from moving parts) & plug into phone module.
  13. Fit cradle to bracket cark126 mini.jpg (100497 bytes)ericsson cradle fitted.jpg (125485 bytes)nokia mini.jpg (31080 bytes)then route cable to box (I remove 2 screws holding toggle switches in and feed wires behind it)
  14. Test & rebuild car
  15. If using a bluetooth kit a cradle is not required nokia blue stereo.jpg (108950 bytes)but can still be fitted so phone is in view.
